Terms of service

These terms apply to merchants who install Mint Price Match ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

The service

The app adds a price match button and request form to your product pages (theme app block), collects price match requests, lets you approve them by creating a single-use discount code in your Shopify store or decline them with a reason, emails the shopper the outcome, and shows each shopper a status page on your store. On Pro it can read the price a competitor page publishes in its structured data, approve requests automatically by rules you set, and show analytics. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.

Your price match decisions

You decide your price match policy, which stores you match, and whether to approve each request (or the rules for automatic approval). The price check is an aid: it reports what a competitor page lists in its machine-readable data at the moment it is fetched, which may differ from what a shopper sees (variants, sale prices, regions, shipping). You are responsible for your decisions and for honouring the codes you issue. Codes are normal Shopify discount codes created in your store; they apply to one product variant, once, until their end time. Cancelling a code in the app switches it off in Shopify.

Emails sent for you

Approval and decline emails are sent on your behalf, in your store's name, only to shoppers who asked for a price match on your store. You are responsible for the texts and reasons you write. Delivery depends on the shopper's email provider and on our email service being available; when sending is unavailable, emails are kept and sent later, but we can't guarantee a delivery time.

Plans and billing

Plans are chosen on Shopify's plan page and billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial, under Shopify's terms. You can change or cancel your plan there at any time, or uninstall the app; a move to the free plan takes effect at the end of the billing cycle already paid for.

Acceptable use

Don't use the app to email people who didn't make a request, to collect email addresses for marketing, or to fetch websites other than the competitor pages shoppers submit. We may pause the price check or sending for a store that causes abuse, and will tell you why.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the app available, accurate and secure, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.

Data processing addendum

When the app processes personal data of your shoppers on your behalf, you are the controller and we are the processor. We will:

  • process personal data only to provide the app's features, following your instructions given through the app's settings;
  • process only the minimum data needed: a shopper's email address, the link, price and optional note they submit, the decision and code, and a keyed one-way hash of their network address for rate limits (never raw IP addresses); paid-order notifications are read only to mark codes as used and count them, without customer fields;
  • use shopper email addresses only to answer their price match request — never for our own marketing, never sold, never used for advertising or to train AI models;
  • keep personal data confidential and limit access to authorised personnel;
  • encrypt it in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 encryption at rest, plus app-level AES-256-GCM encryption of email addresses);
  • use Cloudflare (hosting, database, queue and email sending) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
  • erase emails, notes and links 60 days after a request ends and IP hashes after 30 days, erase a shopper's data when Shopify sends an erasure request, and delete all shop data after uninstall (shop redaction);
  • help you respond to data subject requests (the app lets you download a shopper's data) and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.

Changes

We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
